Jaime Partagas the founder of the Partagas line began the production of his brand in 1845 after he left Cuba for Spain. Ramon Cifuentes and his father also contributed greatly to the rich history of the Partagas brand. It is these two master cigar makers that made the Partagas the number one Cuban cigar. Ramon Cifuentes fled Cuba in 1961 after Fidel Castro took over the Cuban government in 1959 and after seven years in 1978 he began production of his brand once more in the Dominican Republic at the fertile Connecticut River Valley and it is here that he trained a man called Daniel Nunez who was to be his successor. The Partagas premium cigar is rolled in a unique wrapper grown in Cameroon, which is a country located in the Central West of Africa. The Cameroon wrappers are incomparable and are rich in flavor. Ramon Cifuentes discovered that the best wrapper leaves were grown in Cameroon and not Cuba. Let us review some of the brands of the Partagas line.
