My Father Cigars purchased the domestic rights to the Fonseca brand at the end of 2019, with the goal of paying homage to the cuban glory days. Pepin actually used to roll Fonseca back in Cuba, so this brand has a lot of meaning to the Garcia family. They have taken the classic look and feel of the cigar, in terms of packaging and the blend, and injected some My Father DNA into it. In doing so, their goal was not to create just another My Father cigar, but to start a whole new brand under the My Father umbrella. The Fonseca blend features a brand new, shade-grown Corojo 99 wrapper from the same farm as the Flor de Las Antillas tobacco. It's a true medium strength, full-flavored blend that lands somewhere between old school Cuba and new school - rich, earthy and with a tamed spice to fit the smooth and light profile that is characteristic for the Fonseca brand.
The Cuban Fonseca is known for its white tissue paper packaging. My Father Cigars is keeping that tradition. The Cosacos is wrapped in white tissue paper as well. The Cedros is wrapped in cedar, which is appropriate for a cigar with that name. The other vitolas do not have special packaging. The cigars come in boxes of 20 cigars, but the tissue paper wrapper Cosacos also comes in beautiful tins of five cigars. Truly a delightful smoke!
