Padilla 1932 Oscuro Limitado
Ernesto Padilla created the Padilla cigars in 2003. His father Heberto Padilla was a candid poet who with his wife Belkis Cuza Male supported Fidel Castro for overthrowing Baptista a dictator in Cuba. However, they both noticed that Fidel Castro would use his poetry writings for propaganda and it was then their opinion about him and his ambitions for the country began to change. Heberto had won an award known as the Julian del Casal prize; this was a great honor, however some of the comments which were aimed at Castro’s regime were inflammatory and these got him into serious trouble for he was put under house arrest and later send to prison together with his wife where they were tortured. Herbeto later signed a self criticism of his book after being forced to do so which he turned on them. This event was known as the Padilla Affair. It was only when Ernesto was born that Senator Ted Kennedy helped in the release of Heberto and his wife and facilitated their immigration to the United States. It was there, that he began to teach at the Princeton University and continued to do so for many years.
