After a year of puffing on some 700 new cigars from all around the world, the smoke has finally settled in the Cigar Aficionado offices and listed here are the Top Cigars of the year. Cigar Aficionado began with a list of the top-scoring cigars culled from blind tastings conducted in the magazine and in Cigar Insider. The contest started with 60 smokes that had scored at least 90 points in their taste tests. They were stripped of their identifying bands and placed in their tasting humidors for their toughest challenge yet, a competition in which every cigar was something special. Only the truly superb would emerge on top. After that first round, they assembled the very best one more time, then resmoked the finalists until they had their Top Cigars, and the Cigar of the Year. The premium, handmade cigars that appear on this list are all exceptional smokes that have undergone a thorough vetting process.
